How cute is this skirt? It ticks the 50's and ruffle boxes for SS08 in one go! It's from Warehouse and costs £45 which isn't cheap but I'm sure you'd get loads of wear out of it!

Dita Von Teese
Dita Von Teese can do no wrong in the fashion stakes in my opinion. Look at these pictures for goodness sake, she is perfection from head to toe! The one on the left is from today at the Vienna Opera ball and the other is from the Ellie Saab fashion show in Paris. I think the big style lesson someone like Dita Von Teese can teach us is to discover your own style and be comfortable in it, know what suits you and employ it to the best of your abilities!
H&M - Fashion against AIDS
H&M have launched a collection today called Fashion against AIDS in conjunction with Designers against AIDS (DAA). They have enlisted celebrities to design t-shirts and hoodies for men and women and 25% of the sales proceeds are going to the DAA and Youth AIDS charities. What's also cool is they are all made from 100% organic cotton and they cost between $14.90 and $19.90 (the hoodies cost $34.90). My faves are below and from left to right firstly the lip design ones are from Jade Jagger, then there is Rihanna wearing her design and a colour picture of it.
Then the umbrella design is from Good Charlotte and this intricate one is from Rufus Waiwright.
Lastly I've picked out the Katherine Hamnet design, the one from the Scissor Sisters and the one from The Cardigans. Fashion gets a conscience sometimes and this time it looks great!
River Island - SS08 trends
River Island have 4 main looks for SS08 which I'm going to give you a feel of quickly! Firstly there is "Pretty Punk" summed up by the furthest left graphic. Think skinny jeans, pretty top and then big knitwear with a belt to show your shape off if you wish. It's very Alexa Chung for UK readers!
Next there is "70's blues", a place to wear your flares and wedges! It's all about tan accessories and the vintage feel of a Portobello Market shopper!
"Raffia" is a pretty, layering, ditsy print based story with a similar feeling to 70's blues in my opinion. I do really like the trench mixed into this outfit though, it looks very fresh.
Finally there is "Graffica" which is all about bold dressing and the body-con trend - you want to be noticed if you wear this look! Tailored dress, trousers, skirts and blouses that show off your figure are key!
Miss Selfridge - new line
Just thought I'd post this cool dip dye dress (£32) from Miss Selfridge. We are definitely seeing more and more of this ombre/tie dye/dip dye trend coming through for SS08 now!
Belle by Oasis
Oasis have launched a occasionwear collection called "Belle" which is fairly small at the moment but I'm sure will be building up through Spring. It has a pretty raspberry and salmon palette and has some lovely matching accessories to complete your whole outfit. It does feel like there are two parts of this story rather than it completey gelling together, so I have seperated them out into the deliciously glam and the very pretty!
So here we have the lovely raspberry bandeau top (£55) great with either this black pencil skirt (£60) or a pair of black trousers like the ones below. If you like the dress (£90) shape more this also comes in raspberry as well as black. This bag is expensive at £90 but if you were feeling extravagant or someone was spoiling you it would be perfect!
On the prettier side we have this lovely cami (£55) which you could wear with these cotton sateen trousers (£38) or maybe wear a plain black cami with this beautiful sequin cardigan (£40) over the top. The spot dress (£75) is so chic, I particularly love all the frill detailing around the neck.
Rock of Love!
In case any of you aren't aware of this program, Rock of Love is a show to find true romance for the lead singer of Poison - Bret Michaels. Now normally I totally wouldn't find fashion tips on this show but I have fallen in love with a dress one of the contestants, Roxy, wore on this weeks episode! So, if anyone knows where this lovely red and black polka dot 50's dress is from I appeal to you to let me know as I can't find it and it's driving me mad!
Faith Shoes - SS08
I thought I'd do a little post today about the trends Faith are doing for SS08 to inspire you in the shoe department.
Firstly we have "Black and White" and my favourite 4 styles are these. All are £55 apart from the zebra print ones which are £70. You can see the first two are slightly more formal and classier and the second are a bit more fun! Faith have a good balance of styles in store, which kind of makes me feel better about losing my beloved shoe shop Ravel.
Then they have "Gold" which is meant as a more daywear story for Spring although this first pair to me are very going out-y! The second pair are slightly more subtle coloured but have this great heel shape and the pumps are just hugely wearable in my opinion and a good price at £25. Both heels are £50.
Finally they have "Leisure Chic" which is the most fashion forward story. It shows the masculine influence which has been coming through on shoes but keeps them very wearable and feminine. The colour block ones (£55) are unusual but will have a wide appeal where as the next ones have a hint of the trend but are a great everyday work shoe. The lace ups (£60) are for the slightly trendier girl to wear with her sexy pencil skirt and the tan pumps (£30) are a basic everyone should have in their shoe collection!
Urban Outfitters - SS08 lines
So I've pulled out a few things from the Urban Outfitters early SS08 collection. When you shop at Urban Outfitters there are hints of the trends that you will see around the rest of the high street but they also just have really nice pieces that don't fit into "fashion" at all! So reflecting one of the biggest SS08 trends they have these dip dye/ombre pieces. The purple dress is $78 and the blue one is $58. Personally I think the blue dress would be better styled over jeans as a top because of the hem band but I really like the tie neck detail on this one.
Next I wanted to show you these lovely cut work pieces. The pretty blouse and top are both $58 but there is so much detail on them, especially the blouse (I put pics up of the front and back of it so you can see it in detail) I really think that is a bargain price.
I love both of these dress, the gingham one ($58) looks so fresh and the red one ($68) is the right side of peasanty so you don't feel to authentic Ugly Betty!
Urban Outfitters also stock some really awesome shoes which you should check out. These open boots ($150) are perfect for colder Spring days with a dress like either of the above and a cardigan. The flat shoes ($68) reflect the masculine shoe trend but have got a feminine twist to them which I really like.
